Hometown and club

Olympedia: born 29 July 1983 in Valencia. Club: Club Natación Cerrado Calderón.

The Andalusian Olympic Foundation writes that, as a child, she lived in Córdoba because of her parents’ work and arrived in Málaga at 7. She started in the Cerrado Calderón school programme, with Víctor Sánchez Marrero.

On 30 August 2000 El País reported that she placed her move into the Cerrado team at age 11, and gave a best time of 1:12.77 for the 100 m breaststroke. That time comes from the interview, not from a results file linked here.

Results

Junior Europeans, from the Foundation: 15th in the 200 m breaststroke at Antwerp 1998, aged 15, and 10th in the 100 m breaststroke at Moscow 1999.

Bronze in the 200 m breaststroke at the 1999 Spanish absolute winter championship.

Sydney 2000: Olympedia lists her 15th for Spain in the 4×100 m medley relay. The Foundation says she swam the breaststroke leg on 22 September, with Mireia García Sánchez, Ivette María Tato and Laura Roca Montala; heat 1 finished 4th in 4:14.54 and the team was 15th of 18.

In 2001 she won the only two Spanish absolute titles the Foundation attributes to her: gold in the 100 m breaststroke at the Spanish absolute summer championship and at the spring Open, both in Zaragoza. At the 2001 Tunis Mediterranean Games she was 8th in the 100 m breaststroke final, in 1:15.18.
